Charlotte M. McComb, age 84, passed away Monday, November 29, 2010 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro following a lingering illness. Charlotte was born December 20, 1925 in Akron, the daughter of the late William & Bertha (Rayl) Brinkman. She graduated from Tuscola County Normal in 1945 and two days later was united in marriage with Lee E. McComb at the Caro United Methodist Church. Charlotte began her teaching career at the Pleasant Hill School in Caro for one year, and then at the Thane School for two years. Following a twelve year hiatus to raise her four children, Charlotte resumed her teaching career at the Frankfurt School, Almer Center School, Deford School, Reese Elementary and would retire from the Caro Elementary School after more than thirty-two years of helping to shape the lives of countless area children. Charlotte was an active member of the Caro United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, the Caro Garden Club, Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel and a former member of the Caro Wixom Club. She loved being with and caring for her family, sewing, baking and gardening. Left to cherish Charlottes memory is her husband of more than sixty-five years, Lee E. McComb of Caro; four children and their spouses, David & Barb McComb of Cass City, Barbara Niesen of Lapeer, Elaine & Bill Lynch of Grosse Pointe Park, Dale & Debra McComb of Gahanna, Ohio; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Pam & Joe Lawe of Millington, Brian & Julie McComb of Caro, Chris Vollmar of Cass City, Amy & Kevin Gentner of St. Johns, Mark & Jennifer Niesen of Perry, Jonathan & Lindsay Niesen of Perry, Katherine Niesen and her fiance, Eric Naber, of Rochester Hills, Christopher & Tracey McComb of Marysville, Ohio, Patrick & Renee McComb of Dallas, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, three brothers and their spouses, Dorothy & Donald Keinath of Caro, Raymond & Margaret Ann Brinkman of Unionville, Herbert & Jean Brinkman of Roscommon, Wayne & Carol Brinkman of Caro; and many nieces and nephews. Charlotte was preceded in death by one brother and his wife, Donald & Phyllis Brinkman; and one son-in-law, James Niesen. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Home & Hospice Advantage as well as to the CNAs of the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility for their loving care and support during Charlottes illness.
