Cheri Ahrens

Cheri D. Ahrens, age 50, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw, following a brief illness. Cheri Zechmeister was born February 22, 1962 in Cass City, the daughter of Steve and Linda (Westfall) Zechmeister. Cheri was united in marriage with Robert E. Ahrens on June 21, 1980 at the United Methodist Church in Fairgrove. Cheri was employed at Chemical Bank in Fairgrove for several years. She enjoyed many interests that included doing cross-stitch, attending car shows and being an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. Cheri was a very caring person, always more concerned about others than herself and was an inspiration to her church family; with her greatest love the time she spent with her family. Cheri is survived by her loving husband of over thirty-two years, Bob Ahrens; one son and his wife, Brett & Terri Ahrens of Fairgrove; her parents, Steve & Linda Zechmeister of Akron. Cheri was preceded in death by her sister, Anne Klammer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Akron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dorothy J. Thon officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the Church in Akron on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Ahrens Family Discretionary Fund.
