Cheryl K Haley age 70 of Elkton died early Wednesday morning, March 4, at her home while under hospice care.
She was born May 20, 1944 in Ionia to the late Dwight and Kay (Mitchell) Killion. After high school, Cheryl attended Western Michigan University receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
She began her teaching career in Goodrich then in the U. P. for 2 years before coming to Elkton in 1974.
On January 30, 1976, she was united in marriage to Randy L. Haley at the Elkton United Methodist Church.
Cheryl taught in the English Department at Laker High School for 24 years retiring in 2002. She loved her students and taught them with a passion of caring and concern for each one individually.
She enjoyed reading, watching and feeding birds, and being in her garden.
Surviving are her husband, Randy; two children, Casey (Carmen) Haley of Tucson, AZ and Marla (Anthony) Kopah of Bad Axe; six grandchildren, Tristen, Dante, Orion, Willow, Annalise and Searsha; her brother, James (Gretchen) Killion of Ionia; sister-in-law, Val (Ron) Hobson of Grant Twp and brother-in-law, William (Kerry) Haley of Saginaw.
Preceding her in death was her brother-in-law, Roger Haley.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, March 7, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Rev. DeeDee Russell will officiate with cremation to follow.
Memorials may be directed to the Elkton Historical Society.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Friday and at the church after 10 AM Saturday.
