Chester Kapa

Chester Kapa, age 83 years, Mayville, died on Thursday, December 8, 2005 at St. Marys of Michigan Hospital, Saginaw. He was born on August 22, 1923 in Detroit, coming to Wells Township as a young man. Chester Kapa was a veteran of WWII, having served in the US Army 101st Airborne Division. On May 1, 1948 the former Norma Stephens and Chester Kapa were united in marriage at the Methodist Church in Caro. Chester was employed, until his retirement, as an attendant nurse at the Caro Regional Mental Health Center. He was a member of the Frankenmuth Pigeon Club, the Kingston V.F.W Post #5317. and the American Legion, Post #7 of Caro. In addition to his Pigeons, he was an outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and bird watching. Chester enjoyed woodworking and Baseball was his favorite sport. In additon to his wife, Norma; he is survived by his children; Fred and Tamie Kapa of Caro, Char Fisher of Mayville, six grandchildren; Joe (Briana) Fisher of Milford, Derek Kapa of United States Air Force Reinstat Germany, two step-grandchildren; Joel (Amy) Grassmann of Woodland Park, CO, Amie Grassmann of Caro, one great grandson, Joey Fisher, Jr. and two step great grandchildren, his siblings, Jessie Matuszak of Hamtramck, Alfred Kapa of Texas, and Louis (Judy) Kapa of Mayville, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Louis and Katherine Kapa and a sister, Virginia Cechkowski. The funeral service will be held: at: Collon Funeral Home in Caro on: Monday, December 12. 2005 at 11:00 am with: Rev. Ernie Hautala, Dayton Center Church, Officiating Burial will be: at: Almer Township Cemetery with Military Honors afforded by the American Legion Post #7 Pallbearers will be: Joe Fisher, Briana Fisher, Derek Kapa, Amie Grassmann, David Kapa, and Don Kapa. Visitation will be: at: Collon Funeral Home in Caro on: Sunday from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm and: Monday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am Memorials may be made to the Saginaw Rescue Mission or the Michigan Kidney Foundation.
