Christel Mccrea

Christel McCrea of Alpena and formerly of Caro, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Mid Michigan Medical Center in Alpena. Christel was born November 13, 1941 in Neunkirchen, Germany, the daughter of the late Jakob and Erna (Clemens) Weber. In 1960, at the age of 18, she moved from Germany to North Carolina, then Alaska, and eventually to this area in 1965. She was united in marriage with the late Marvin Streeter and later married Joseph McCrea on June 9, 1990. Joe preceded Christel in death on October 26, 2003. She and Joe attended the Watrousville United Methodist Church and served as foster parents to many children. Christel enjoyed fishing, solving crossword puzzles, playing cards and Bingo. She will be remembered for her unfailing honesty and giving nature. In her recent time as a resident at Tendercare Nursing Home in Alpena, Christel became a fearless and persistent patient advocate. She loved dogs, especially Ebony, who was shown love through excessive feeding. Christel is survived by three children and their spouses, Sandra & Matthew Gallarno of Presque Isle, Patrick Streeter and his fianc, Cindy Garvin, of Belton, Missouri, Stefan & Melanie Streeter of Billings, Montana; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and another great-granddaughter expected shortly. In addition to her parents and husbands, Christel was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Brady in 1998. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery in Caro.
