Christena (Nusz) Kruger, age 98, of Sebewaing, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Vadavilla AFC Home. She was born March 17, 1914 in Cookston, Oklahoma to the late James and Esther (McFarland) Swimmer. She married Aaron Nusz on January 5, 1930 in Geary, Oklahoma. On May 1964, she married Arthur Kruger in Caro, MI. They both preceded her in death.
Christena worked at Sebewaing Industries for 20 years as a press operator from 1944 to 1964. She enjoyed quilting and playing euchre. She was a member at Trinity United Methodist Church, the Women's Club (Ladies Aid), and the Sebewaing Garden Club.
She is survived by her children: Margaret A. Kelly, of Essexville, Willa Dee Bitzer, of Unionville, Mary June (Jack) Little, of San Bernideno, California, and Kenneth A. (Kay) Nusz, of Gary, Indiana; son-in-law, Ronald Winter, of Sebewaing; half sister, Lou Ann Paige, of Vian, Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren, and 40 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara J. "Bootsie" Winter, sisters, Aritta Linton and Jeweldine (Tom) Ellison; one infant brother, four close cousins: Geneva Nusz, Ruby McCaine, Annie Evey and Gyp Swimmer.
Visitation will be Monday, March 18, 2013, from 2-8pm at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will be at Silverlawn Cemetery in Sebewaing.
Memorial donations may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing.
