Christine A. Gucwa

Christine A. Gucwa of Caro and formerly of Cass City, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the age of 69. Chris was born January 10, 1947 in Cass City, the daughter of the late Scotty & Lucille (Schnepp) McCullough and was a 1965 graduate of Cass City High School. One of her great joys as a child was working with her parents at the family business, Mac & Scotty's Drug Store in Cass City. She was united in marriage with William Gucwa on August 11, 1973 in Cass City. Chris worked for Hills and Dales Hospital as a ward clerk in the operating room for several years before retiring to raise her children. In her free time, she loved cooking and baking. Friends and family never left her home hungry. She cherished her grandchildren and time spent with them. A frugal shopper, Chris was known to be a fanatic coupon clipper. She also enjoyed watching television and in her younger years, doing needlepoint. Chris is survived by her loving husband, William Gucwa of Caro; two children, Danielle Gucwa of Cass City, Scott Gucwa of Caro; three grandchildren, Dalton, Josalyn and Alexis Gucwa; one sister, Kathryn McCullough of Cass City; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Chris was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lydia Rose Gucwa in 2006. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. Burial will follow at a later time at the Elkland Township Cemetery in Cass City. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
