Clara May Schultheis

May 9, 1948 — October 12, 2025

Caro

Clara May (Devericks) Schultheis of Caro, age 77, went home to be in the arms of her Lord on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Clara was born May 9, 1948, in Midland, Michigan, to the late Wilber and Marion (Northrup) Devericks and attended Midland High School prior to going back and earning her diploma in 1986. After high school, Clara earned a medical assistant certification from the Pontiac Business Institute and spent over fifteen years as an assembly line worker for General Motors. Her most important calling was as a caregiver; the last thirty-six years of her life were given to taking care of people every single day as the owner and operator of Agape Care Systems, Inc. Clara married Carl Schultheis, whom she knew as a neighbor since 1990, on May 9, 2004. He survives her. In her free time, Clara enjoyed painting, puzzles, Bingo, and playing board games. Her favorite was “Sorry!” She also enjoyed card games like Euchre and especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She loved to travel, taking seventeen cruises throughout her lifetime, and was blessed to travel to Israel, which was one of her life goals. Clara is remembered as having the biggest heart and always taking care of anyone in need. She would go without so someone else would have, and her legacy is the love she nurtured in her family and friends.

Clara is survived by her husband, Carl Schultheis; children, Tanya (Don) Bristow, Bruce (Michelle) Mullins, Otto Schultheis, and Kate (Martin) Wieszczecinski; grandchildren, Joey (Heather), Jesse (Lelia), Jake (Kori), Chayna, Dayne, Brittney, Keara, Kandi, Tyler (Kimberely), Ali, Samantha (Micky), Mason, Gregory, Abraham, Devlin, and Charlie; twenty great-grandchildren; brother, Willis Devericks; aunt, Lillian Hayes; sister-in-law, Jackie Devericks; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, countless people she cared for throughout the years, and her closest friend, Edna Balog.

Clara was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Godfrey; siblings, Ida (Norm) Pratt, Edna Blizzard, Helen (Tom) Klein, and James Devericks; and sister-in-law, Gladys Devericks.
