Clara Turner

Clara Edith Turner of Akron, age 93, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at her son's residence in Fairgrove Township. Clara was born February 8, 1921 on the family farm in Decker, the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Patch) Severance. She was united in marriage with William Franklin Turner on January 27, 1947 in Fairgrove, and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2001. Clara graduated from Cass City High School with the class of 1939 and then attended beauty school. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and worked as a beautician and as secretary in her husband's construction company. In addition to caring for her family, Clara enjoyed singing with her husband, playing the piano and antique musical instruments. She enjoyed playing rook, dominoes, and skip-po as well as hand in foot. Clara loved her Lord and was a devoted prayer warrior for her family. She was a faithful member of the Colwood United Brethren Church. Clara is survived by two sons, Robert "Rob" & Sherri Turner of Tipp City, Ohio and Bruce & Tina Turner of Akron; four foster-children, Kenny Monroe, Henry Morton, Kathy Wright and Harold Turner; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Allen; sister, Helen Sheppard; five brothers, Harry, Roy, Vern, Lloyd "Chic", and Louis "Louie" Severance; infant siblings, Beth Arlene and Steven; and a very special nephew, Harold Turner. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Colwood United Brethren Church in Caro with Clara's nephew, Rev. Keith Meade officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Turner Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Tina Turner, 205 W.
