Clare Frick of Caro, age 93, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence in Saginaw, following a brief battle with cancer. Clare was born January 16, 1925 in Caro, the son of the late Homer and Ethel (Robinson) Frick, and was a lifelong area resident. He walked away from school three days before his sixteenth birthday, and worked at the Caro Canning Factory before going to Grey Iron Foundry in 1944, retiring in October of 1978. Clare was united in marriage with the former Patricia "Pat" Jacques on November 24, 1945. The couple had celebrated sixty-four years of marriage prior to Pat's death on September 3, 2010. Clare and Pat enjoyed traveling the United States together, from Boston to San Francisco, and the Florida Keys to Montana, as well as spending more than thirty winters in Florida. Clare was a member of St. Christopher Parish in Caro and the Knights of Columbus Caro Council #3224. He was a very social person and was often seen in area restaurants, especially Wendy's. Clare is survived by one son, Charles H. Frick of Caro; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne & Gerry Frick of Caro; sisters, Nancy Roth of Traverse City, Elaine Dwyer of Caro; brother-in-law, Harold Sarles of Mayville; son-in-law, Tony Westendorf of Saginaw; daughters-in-law, Carol, Sue and Paula; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Clare was preceded in death by a daughter, Cecelia Westendorf; son, Edward Frick; sisters, Mary and Frances; brothers Eljay and Floyd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerzy Dobosz officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. A Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
