Clarence Ewald

Clarence Ewald of Unionville, age 94, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at home following a period of declining health. Clarence was born September 8, 1928, on the family farm in Unionville, the son of the late Otto & Suzanna (Shane) Ewald. He was united in marriage with the former Dolores "Dotsie" Young on November 26, 1949, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Columbia Corners, in Unionville. The couple cherished more than seventy years of marriage when Dotsie preceded him in death on January 2, 2020. Clarence was a lifelong farmer and in the winter months worked as a welder and fabricator. He was mechanically gifted and always working, traits he learned from life on the farm. Clarence played the guitar and banjo as a member of Denny and the Music Makers and was a talented accordionist. He was also meticulous about his yard and spent countless hours on the mower. Left to cherish his memory are three children and their spouses, John Ewald of Unionville, Clark & Pam Ewald of Caro, Stephen & Dana Ewald of Unionville; grandchildren and their spouses, David Ewald of Unionville, Roger & Melissa Ewald of Sebewaing, Megan Bollon of Indian River, Becky & Wesley Beegle of North Branch, Luke & Karlee Ewald of Caro, Samantha Ewald of North Carolina, Jonathon & Ashley Bennett of Howell, Rebecca & Michael Barrows of Bay City, Lauren & Chad Keiser of Cass City; 10 great-grandchildren with another expected shortly; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Clarence was preceded in death by eight siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Columbia Corners, Unionville, with Rev. Jeff Bonn officiating.
