Clarence J. Hyde, age 72, of Caseville, died suddenly Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon of a heart attack.
Clarence was born December 5, 1933 in Springboro, Pennsylvania to the late Willis and Mary Ann (Randall) Hyde. Upon finishing school in Pennsylvania he joined the US Navy. While stationed in Chicago he met his future wife, Virginia Mae Wilson of Detroit. They married in Detroit on June 6, 1953. After Clarence left the service the family settled in Madison Heights. Clarence worked for Chrysler for 39 years, retiring in 1997 from the Sterling Heights Stamping Plant. The family had been vacationing in Caseville since 1964; in 1975 they bought a place and in 1997 they moved to Caseville permanently. Clarence was a quiet man who enjoyed tinkering and fixing things, working puzzles, reading and spending time with his family.
Clarence is survived by his wife Virginia; children Kathy (John) Giszcazak of Willis, Michigan, Terry Mazzoni of Pennsylvania, Mark of Hazel Park, Robert of Caseville, Linda Wilson of Arizona and Richard of Virginia; grandchildren Marnie, Joseph, Amanda, Judy, Shane, Annie and Christopher; great-grandchildren Justin, Clara and June; and brothers Donald of Florida and Richard Bushore of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert, Lewis, Vance and sister Mary Jane Everly.
A Memorial Service will be at 12:00 Noon Saturday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. Friends and family may begin gathering at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at Noon.
In accordance with Clarence’s wishes, his body has been donated to the University of Michigan Medical School for research.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Roch Food Pantry.
