Clayton J. Gemmell, age 95, of Elkton died Monday morning, January 21, in the presence of his Lord and family at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
He was born on December 15, 1912, at the home of his parents the late James and Mildred (Andrews) Gemmell in Grant Twp. After graduating from Owendale High School in attended Michigan State graduating in 1935 with a Degree in Agriculture.
On December 23, 1934 he was united in marriage to Ardis A. Jarvis at the Snover RLDS Church.
Clayton was a lifelong member of the Owendale Community in Christ Church. Clayton and Ardis farmed in Grant Twp. for 47 years and then retired to Elkton in July of 1981. He and Ardis were charter members of the Elkton Senior Citizens. Clayton especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He not only spent many hours caring for the his garden and yard but went out of his way to help keep neighbors yards looking good by picking up sticks and debris all over town.
Surviving three children, Don Gemmell of Elkton, Lewis (Baraca) Gemmell of Mio and Charlene (Tom) Craig of Pigeon; sixteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, January 24, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Elder Ellis Gardner will officiate with burial in the Grant Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 PM Wednesday and after 10 AM Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Owendale Community in Christ Church or Extended services at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
