Clayton E. Krause, age 88, of Elkton died this morning, March 22, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
He was born February 23, 1918 at the home of his parents, the late Samuel and Lydia (Ramseyer) Krause in Chandler Twp.
Clayton worked at Buick in Flint in his youth and moved back to Elkton shortly after he was married. He and Madalyn Seley were united in marriage June 24, 1941.
He had been employed at the Elkton Tile Plant until 1950, that year he began working at the Wallace and Morley Elevator, in Elkton retiring in 1983.
Clayton was a member and usher at the Elkton United Methodist Church. He was a good family man, coaching little league, attending all his kids and grandkids athletic and school functions. Clayton enjoyed playing baseball, golf and meticulously working in his yard and garden.
Surviving are his wife of almost 65 years, Madalyn; two children Kathleen (Jack) Ginter of Elkton and Michael (Grace) Krause of Bad Axe; six grandchildren, Kelly, Shelly, Jackie, Ryan, Abbie and Lindsey; nine great grandchildren, Steven, Austin, Jonathan, Autumn, Christian, Jordyn, Kelsey, Jackson and Teagan. Also surviving are two brothers, Roland (Grace) Krause of Berkley and Olin (Ora) Krause of Apollo Beach, FL. Preceding him in death were his sister, Verda Kreh and three brothers, Harold, Pete and Orville Krause.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, March 25, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Rev. Pete Crawford, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Friday and at the church after 10:00 AM Saturday. Memorial may be directed to the church.
