Clayton A. Lane, age 77, passed away Friday, November 27, 2009 at Covenant - Harrison in Saginaw, following a lingering illness. He was born October 8, 1932 in Pontiac, the son of the late Homer G. & Nellie May (Curtis) Lane, and came to Caro in 1990 from Houston, Texas. Clayton was united in marriage with the former Joyce Marie Davis in October of 1960 in Pontiac. He and his family came to Cass City in 1968 to live, and moved to Houston in 1980. While in Caro, Clayton attended the Caro First Baptist Church as he was able. He held a variety of jobs in his adult life that included working in auto plants, driving trucks and serving as a security guard. After coming to Caro, Clayton lived at the Caro Senior Commons where he enjoyed being in charge of “Movie Night,” putting up the posters and popping the corn for the movie. Claytons wife, Joyce, preceded him in death on September 23, 1984. Surviving are five children and their spouses, Karen Bazan of Lapeer, John Fortson of Detroit, Tim & Marianne Fortson of Kingwood, Texas, Charles Lane of Cass City, Clayette & Joe Zechmeister of Caro; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, one brother and their spouses, Carole & Ken Kliewer of Holly, Beverly & Burt Hensley of Pontiac, Perry & Christine Lane of Holly and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Clayton was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Destiny MonHollen and one niece, Kathy Lane.
