Clayton Gerald Witkovsky, age 91, of Caro, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. He was born on March 18, 1918 in Caro to the late William and Ethel (Budd) Witkovsky. He was a lifelong resident of Indianfields Township. Clayton was a 1936 graduate of Caro High School, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer of the family farm and in addition worked for a number of years as a foreman at Michigan Sugar, and retired as a grinder from Hydromat. On April 8, 1977, he was united in marriage to the former Alice (Chaffee) Wightman at the Caro United Methodist Church, where he was a member. In earlier years, he had been a member of the Grange. He is survived by his wife, Alice; his stepsons, Kevin (Lisa) Wightman of Caro, Don (Marie) Wightman of Senaca, South Carolina and Roy (Norma) Wightman of Caro; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; his siblings, Robert (Helen) Witkovsky of Bay City and Roberts twin, Roberta Rappel of Bay City; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Witkovsky of The Colony, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his remaining siblings; Eldon Witkovsky, Oneita Ringle, Earl Witkovsky, his twin, Clifton Witkovsky, Loren Witkovsky and Donna Mc Daniel. The funeral service will be held at the Caro United Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Caro United Methodist Church or the charity of the donors choice.
