Clayton R. Young

Clayton R. Young, age 76, of Elkton, died Monday morning, December 2, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, FL following a long illness.
He was born December 14, 1925, in Chandler Twp. at the home of his parents the late Arthur and Minnie (Bell) Young. He attended and graduated from the Farver School near their home.
Clayton served in the Army Air Force during WWII, returning home in 1945. On May 4, 1946, he was united in marriage to Helen L. Damm at the Pigeon United Methodist Church. They have lived and farmed in Oliver Twp all their married lives. They started traveling to Florida after harvest in the late seventies for a few weeks at a time. After retiring in 1987, they began spending their winters there.
He was a member of the Evangel Life Assembly of God Church, Bad Axe and in Florida he attended the Sun-N-Fun Community Church in Sarasota. Clayton enjoyed his retirement pursuing his interests and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; his daughter, Patricia (Fred) Hundersmark of Pigeon, three grandchildren, Todd, Chad and Stacy; his sister, Audrey (Bob) McBride of Mt Morris; his brother, John (Pat) Young of Harbor Beach; sister-in-law, Daphne Young of Caro; several nieces & nephews and many friends.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, George Young and his wife, Reha, and Gordon Young and his sister, Betty Levenski.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, December 6, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton where friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Thursday.
Rev. Robert Smith, pastor of the Evangel Life Assembly of God Church will officiate with burial in Grandlawn Cemetery, Pigeon.
