Clyde David Coffey of Caro, age 66, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Fisher Senior Care and Rehab Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 10, 1958 to the late Clyde Noah and Sybil Odell (Foshee) Coffey. Clyde graduated from Vassar High School with the Class of 1976.
After graduating, Clyde enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he rose to the rank of E4. Following his honorable discharge, he pursued further education at Great Lakes Community College, earning an associate’s degree in electronics. One of his proudest moments was sharing his graduation with his late daughter, Nichol, who was celebrating her own milestone; graduating from kindergarten. On December 21, 1984, Clyde married the former Kay Zissler in the comfort of their own living room at the family home. He was known for his strong work ethic, putting in long hours at Georgia Pacific in Owosso, where he was employed for over twenty years.
Clyde had a lifelong fascination with how things worked, especially computers. He would take apart and rebuild machines just for the joy of it. From early pre-Linux systems to modern Raspberry Pi computers, it was never just about the hardware; it was about discovery, connection, and gifting his creations to those he loved. Aside from this love for creation, he found joy in fishing and spending quality time with those he loved most.
Clyde leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Kay Coffey; stepchildren, Sarah (Kristopher) Paul and Rochelle (Niels) Nijman; four grandchildren; and siblings, Vernon (Susan) Coffey, Alan Coffey, Donna (Carl) Hitsman, Lori (Bill) Warmbier, Gloria Coffey, and Joe (Julie) Coffey. In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his daughter, Nichol Coffey.
In keeping with Clyde’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
