Connie Lue Engelhardt

Connie Lue Engelhardt, age 68 of Owendale, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at home with her family by her side.  After twenty months, she lost her battle with cancer.

Connie was born in Pigeon, MI on November 18, 1951 to Fred and Barbara (Thick) Maxwell and was the second of six children.  On December 22, 1984, she married Ken Engelhardt at the Owendale Methodist Church.  Together they celebrated 35 years of marriage.

Connie graduated from Laker High School in 1969.  She worked at the Polewach Store, Pigeon; Sunny Acre's Nursing Home, Elkton; and at Walbro in Cass City for 22 years before retiring in 1998.  Connie enjoyed quilting, watching TV, camping, going to Florida in the winter months, and watching the grandchildren playing sports.  She enjoyed all her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Connie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing and took great joy and comfort in her faith.  She loved God, her family and many friends.  Connie touched many lives with her friendship and her kind, humble and generous heart.  She will be missed by all.

Connie is survived by her husband Ken, daughter Michelle (Brad) Burk, and son Kevin (Brenda) Fritz; seven grandchildren: Kendra (Kenny) Kady, Justin (Rebeca) Licht, Laecoln (Warren) Dillon, Maddison and Makenna Burk, and Jacob and Isabelle Fritz; eight great-grandchildren: Maeson, Kloei, Shyann, and Avah Kady, Boden and Hoyt Licht, and Aubrey and Brooks Dillon; three step children; three step grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild;  five siblings and their spouses: Gerald (Gail) Maxwell, Evelyn (Randy) Fritz, Dan (Marge) Maxwell, Nancy (Dr. Ray) Raythatha, and Carl (Phyllis) Maxwell; two sisters-in-law: Jeanette (Michael) Bach and Joy (Gilbert) Sprague; one brother-in-law: David (Pat) Engelhardt; and many nieces and nephews.

Connie was preceded in death by her late husband Larry Fritz, her parents Fred and Barbara Maxwell, father-in-law Carl Engelhardt; mother in-law Lorene Engelhardt, and sisters-in-law Beverly Scherret and Sue Maxwell.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.

The funeral service will be Friday, August 28, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing. Rev. Michael Boyer will be officiating.

Memorial donations may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church General Fund, Immanuel Lutheran Mission Fund, or American Cancer Society.
