Connie Lou Gremel, age 79, of Sebewaing, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with cancer at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.
Connie was born in Bay City on December 5, 1945, to Donald and Marion (Russell) Strieter. She graduated from Unionville High School in 1964. On December 17, 1966, she married Richard Gremel at the Unionville Moravian Church. Connie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing, Mary Martha Guild, Sebewaing Historical Society, Church Decorating Committee, was co-chair of the previous Sebewaing Playscape, church bell choir and Hobby Club. She also enjoyed swimming pool parties, her morning coffee group, volunteering for the Sebewaing Fireman's Chicken Dinner during Sugar Festival, Walt Disney, Disney World, painting, crafting, making castles, cooking, baking, family gatherings, gardening, flowers, decorating, reading, crossword puzzles, going to her cottage in Caseville, playing in the Community band, playing the piano, and discussing politics. Most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren.
Connie is survived by her husband, Richard; 3 sons: Craig (Beverly) Gremel, Joel (Gia) Gremel and Shaun (Katie) Gremel; grandchildren: Denver Ashmun, Danica (Lucas) Bursick, Skylar (fiance Wyatt Kauffold) Gremel, Seth Gremel, Jenna Gremel, Molly Gremel, Luke Gremel and Shay Gremel; great grandchildren: Landon, Aislyn and Grayson Bursick; siblings: Jim (Kathy) Strieter and MaryJane (Charlie) Perthes and the late Karen Thede; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, July 18, 2025 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2pm-8pm.
The funeral service will be Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. A luncheon will follow. Burial will be private in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church (Endowment Fund), Christ the King Lutheran School or Scheurer Hospital.
