Connie Lee Habdas

Connie Lee Habdas of Grand Blanc, formerly of Caro, age 77, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Swank Assisted Living in Swartz Creek. Connie was born January 4, 1947 in Vicksburg, the daughter of the late Oliver and Jessie (Evans) Briggs. She graduated from Vicksburg High School and went on to further her studies at Western Michigan University. On July 20, 1968 in Connie’s hometown, Vicksburg, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Joseph Habdas, Jr. Together they shared over forty wonderful years and countless memories. Sadly, Joe preceded Connie in death on February 17, 2009. After raising their daughter, Connie went on to work as a cashier for Bill’s Foodland and later as a teller for Chemical Bank, retiring after many years as a loan clerk. Connie was a member of the Joy Group at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a member of the quilting group, cutting over 10,000 squares. She loved to read, bake, and make crafts. Connie was a girl scout leader and always made sure to attend her grandchildren’s sporting and dancing events. She loved to be with her family and will be missed dearly.

Connie leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter & her husband, Lisa & Matt Smale; grandchildren, Zachary & Caroline Smale and Claudia Smale & her fiancé, Alexander Lautenbach; siblings, Gene Briggs, Virgil Briggs, and Diana Martens; brother-in-law, Tom & Linda Habdas; sisters-in-law, Evey Briggs and Mary Lou & Sam Earl; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Connie was preceded in death by her siblings, Larry Briggs, Garry Briggs, and Ron Briggs.
