Dale John Sakuta of Caro, age 74, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born June 14, 1951 in Saginaw, the son of the late Frederick and Isabel (Fodo) Sakuta. Dale graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1969. He went on to work for General Motors Saginaw Metal Casting, retiring after twenty-seven dedicated years. Following retirement he worked for the Saginaw News as a rural carrier, or as he liked to call it, a “Professional Driver.”
Dale married the love of his life, Kelly Wieland, on August 12, 1978. Their marriage was blessed with nearly forty-seven years and many wonderful memories. Dale was very dedicated to his boys and watching their sports, never missing a game. He helped coach several baseball seasons, maintain the fields, and was their biggest supporter. Dale enjoyed golfing in his younger years and loved time spent at the family cabin on Wixom Lake. He was known for watching his old action movies, Rocky, Law & Order, and Blue Bloods. Dale had a knack for acquiring old cars and would always find himself back in a corvette. He was strong-willed and not always the most patient teacher, but if you were willing to learn, he was willing to help. Dale’s heart was big, and he showed it more through actions than words.
Dale leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Kelly; sons, Matthew (Kelsie) Sakuta and Brett (Megan) Sakuta; grandchildren, Edison Sakuta, Maylee Sakuta, and Marshall Sakuta; mother-in-law, Carol Wieland; brother, Fred (Lynette) Sakuta; brother-in-law, Michael (Geri) Wieland; several niece, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by two sons, Nicolas Sakuta and Lonny Walter; father-in-law, Bruce Wieland; sister-in-law, Kris Harris; and brother-in-law, Bruce Wieland, Jr.
Dale’s funeral service will be on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. Rev. Robert Demyanovich will officiate, with burial following at the Indianfields Township Cemetery. Dale’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
