Dale C. Smith of Caro, age 97, passed away following a brief illness on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. Dale was born July 12, 1920 in Mayville, the son of the late Charles & Maud (TerBush) Smith and was a 1938 graduate of Mayville High School. He was united in marriage with Avice C. Walls on March 28, 1946 in Caro, and she preceded him in death on May 31, 2012. Dale was employed for thirty-three years at Eaton Manufacturing in Saginaw, retiring in 1982. Ever dignified and dependable, he will be remembered for his gentle demeanor. He had a reflective personality and was happy outdoors, chopping wood or watching the sunset at days end. Dale was a man of his word and knew his Bible well. Dale was blessed to spend the past seven years as a resident of Heritage Hill in Caro, where he was treated with care and respect, and whose staff and residents he loved as family. Left to cherish his memory are one daughter and her husband, Barbara & Phillip Parrott of Deckerville; one granddaughter and her husband, Kelly & Brian Milosevic of Shelby Township; one great-granddaughter, Mila Milosevic; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Dale was preceded in death by one daughter, Alice Wortman in 2013; and infant son, Hugh Charles Smith in 1947. In keeping with Dale's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family committal service is being planned for a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, Southern Care Hospice, or to the donor's favorite charity.
