Dallas D. Likens of Caro, age 93, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw, following a lingering illness. Dallas was born April 27, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri, moving from St. Louis to Pontiac with his parents and two siblings in a coupe with a rumble seat when he was eight years old. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Dallas was united in marriage with the former Ruth Lewis McNeil on October 7, 1972 at the Colling Church of the Nazarene. Dallas was employed as a machinist for General Motors prior to his retirement in 1974. After retiring, he drove school bus, tractor/trailers, and worked with Don Smith building houses. He was a member of the Colling Church of the Nazarene and the Christian Motorcyclists Association. Dallas loved old time country music and riding his motorcycle. Dallas is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Ruth Likens of Caro; three children and their spouses, Linette & Pat Johns, Ted & Laura Likens, Luanne & Daniel Smith; step-children, Gwendolyn & Daryl Burt, Felicia Carr, Kathryn & Wayne Prich, Suzanne & Lee Brown; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Doyle Likens of Utah, Daniel Likens of Utah, Mary "Honda" Head of Saginaw, Delbert Likens of Utah, Donald Likens of Arizona. Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, Arvel and Daisy (Hampton) Likens; one step-granddaughter, Jennifer LaPratt; one step-great-grandson, Zackary LaPratt; and three siblings, Jack Likens, Vernon Likens and Violet Vernor and her husband, Nelson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, 21, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Karen Wolfe officiating. Military honors under the auspices of the U.S. Navy and the Caro American Legion Post #7 will follow the service. Burial will follow at a later time at the Almer Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Likens Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Ruth Likens, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
