Dan R. Curtis of Kingston, age 54, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at his home following a courageous four-month battle with cancer, with his loving family by his side. Dan was born May 15, 1968 in Cass City, the son of Mary (Zelkowski) Curtis and the late Richard Curtis. Dan graduated from Vassar High School in 1986. In his junior year of high school, Dan joined the U.S. Navy, proudly serving for two and a half years. Dan was a jack of all trades. He could fix and make anything, even if he couldn't he found a way; his knowledge was unmatched, and he was always up for a challenge. Dan worked for many employers, he drove truck, was employed by Huron Casting, Co-Op, Nexteer Automotive, Weber Steel, RGI, and most recently Means Industry in Saginaw. In December of 2004, Dan met the love of his life, the former Stacy Giddings. They were united in marriage on April 20, 2006, in Bad Axe, with their children by their side. Dan was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #226, Shriner's, and the Caro Gun Club. In his spare time, Dan enjoyed hunting, woodworking, going for a motorcycle ride, and above all being with his family. He had the biggest heart and cared for everyone. Dan's hard-headed and determined nature will live on in the hearts of his family for years to come. Dan leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Stacy; children, Trevor (Keara) Giddings, Rebecca Curtis, Cody Curtis, Brittney Giddings, Kasia (Alex) Giddings; foster daughter, Miranda Giddings; mother, Mary Curtis; grandchildren, Layne Pletcher and Jaxon & Mary Jade Curtis; siblings, Penny Curtis and Randy (Serena Healy) Curtis; mother-and father-in-law, Kenneth & Sandra Giddings; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Joe (Cathy) Giddings, Troy (Jessica) Giddings, Melissa (Chuck) Shippey, and Jason Giddings; nephews and nieces, Christian, Tylor, Brandon, Johnathon, Joseph, Cayla, Calvin, Hunter, Brianna, Allison, and Joel; many great-nieces and nephews; his best friend who was like a brother, Mike Reece; along with many other friends. In keeping with Dan's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Military honors under the auspices of the Caro American Legion Post #7 and the U.S. Navy at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. Rev. Cameron Steele will officiate and a funeral luncheon will follow at the American Legion Hall in Caro. The family will be present to receive visitors from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
