Dan Martin Daniel Mcgee

M. Daniel McGee, age 69, of Imlay City died Wednesday afternoon, August 8, at his home with his family at his side.
He was born March 23, 1938 in Pinnebog to the late Martin and Marie (Gelnaw) McGee. Dan grew up in Elkton and was a 1956 graduate of Elkton High School. After high school Dan joined the US Army, when he returned, he started driving truck for US Plywood in Utica. Then in 1979, he became the lighthouse keeper at Presque Isle with his wife the former Marianne C. Propp, retiring in 1995. That same year, he moved to Bradenton, Florida and opened a nautical store called The Lighthouse Keepers Closet. He operated it until just a few months ago when his health deteriorated.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Moose Lodge in Bradenton and a past member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon. Dan had also ran a fishing charter boat at Presque Isle for ten years and still went out fishing as often as possible.
Surviving are three daughters, Susan (Peter) McCleary of Ferndale, Colleen (Joe) Kahl of Imlay City and Caroline (Danny) Sawicki of Roseville; his stepson, Scott (Kathy) Kalitta of Palmetto, FL; seven grandchildren, Angela, Heather, Erin, Danny, Kelly, Corey and Colin; four sisters, Mary Ann (Don) Kinasz of Saginaw, Marlene (Ron) Bass of Caseville, Eileen McGee of Elkton and Kathy McGee of Flushing and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Marianne, and two brothers, Ed and Tom McGee.
A funeral mass will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, August 11, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon where friends may call from 10 AM until the time of services.
