Daniel D. McIlhargie, 50, of Caseville passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 at home surrounded by his family while under hospice care.

Dan was born October 2, 1973 in Harbor Beach and raised in Caseville by his parents the late Duane “Frank” and Nancy (Ford) McIlhargie.  He graduated from Laker High School in 1992.  He served for 4 years in the US Navy.  On November 1, 2001 he married Tonya Gembarski in Hawaii.

He owned and operated D & D Construction.  He has been a member of the Caseville Area Fire Department for 27 years, serving currently as Captain. Dan was known for helping and teaching new members of the fire department, being a helping hand wherever it was needed, and supporting his daughters in everything they did, being their number one fan (Go Mavericks!). He enjoyed hunting, camping, yard work and chocolate ice cream.

Dan is survived by his wife Tonya; daughters Bayley and Payton; brothers Darin (Cheryl) of Bay City and Brent of New Haven; sister-in-law Machen of Ira; and niece Shelby.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am Wednesday, September 4th at St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville with Pastor Mike Goforth of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.  Visitation will be 2-8pm Tuesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel.
