Daniel Joseph Monville, Sr.

Daniel Joseph Monville, Sr. of Akron, age 84, passed away at his home on Friday, July 10, 2020 with his loving family by his side. Dan was born May 2, 1936 in Essexville, the son of the late Hubert & Fedelis (Valliere) Monville. He was united in marriage with the love of his life, Erminia Huizar, on August 20, 1955. Never afraid of a hard day's work, Dan was employed with the Defoe Shipyard, Kricks Trucking, and finally Saginaw Steering Gear where he retired from after twenty-seven years of service. He was also very active in the community as a member of the Elks Club, Moose, Boy Scouts, Sacred Heart Men's Choir, and as a 4th Degree Member of the Caro Knights of Columbus where he served as Purser. Dan's spare time was often spent carving, hunting, fishing, dancing, singing, and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty-five years, Erminia Monville of Akron; four children and their spouses, Teresa & David Craig of Holland, Daniel & Sue Monville of Sebewaing, Tina & Bruce Turner of Akron; Toni & Eric Russell of Akron; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro with Rev. Christian Tabares officiating. Burial will follow the service at Demorest Cemetery in Akron. The family will be present to greet friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. A Rosary Service under the auspices of the Caro Knights of Columbus Council #3224 will be recited at the church on Tuesday beginning at 12:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the St. Elizabeth School in Reese.
