David Lee Bender

David Lee Bender of Caro, age 78. Passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Covenant Health Care - Harrison in Saginaw. Dave was born on June 8, 1939 in Caro to the late Otto and Frances (Robins) Bender. He was a graduate of Caro High School, served in the U. S. Navy and on January 21, 1967 married the former Cecelia Devine at the Juniata Community of Christ Church. Dave was employed with GM for 32 years and at Bell Wasik for 15 years. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, Michigan State sports and NASCAR, especially the number 24 car. Dave was a member of the Caro V.F.W. Post 4164 and the American Legion Post #7 where he served on the honor guard and also as a chaplain. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Cecelia; four children and their spouses, Mary Spencer of Caro, Karen and Barry Peet of Silverwood, David and Jessica Bender, II of Owosso and Kathleen and Robert Rondo of Caro: six grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle, Madison, Stephen, Nicole, Tyler; one brother John and Roberta Bender of Caro; one sister Loraine and Larry Warner of Corunna. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Kenna Peet and son-in-law, Robin Spencer. The funeral service will be held at the Community of Christ Church in Caro on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Jerry Bernhardt officiating. Burial will be in the Indianfields Township Cemetery with military honors provided by the U. S. Navy and Caro American Legion Post #7.
