David Albert Campbell

David Albert Campbell of Caro, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at home, surrounded by his family. David was born on August 7, 1936 in Jackson the son of the late Lloyd and Anne (Campbell) Howie. He attended Kingston High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force, working on jet engines. David worked at Raymond’s Gas Station for a number of years and then for the city of Caro in the Water Department, retiring in 1998. He married the love of his life, the former Alice Schulz, on December 9, 1967. David was a proud Christian and dedicated member of the Caro Assembly of God Church. In his younger years he enjoyed racing cars and after marrying Alice, the two of them loved to take trips all over Michigan to camp, especially Wilderness Campground. They also liked to play cards and marbles late into the night while watching T.V. Sadly, Alice passed away on November 26, 2023. Most recently, David enjoyed going out with the guys to the corner café and Starbrite.

David leaves to cherish his memory his children, Sandra K. Holmes, Donald J. (Karen) Martin, Norma J. (Daniel) Abbott, Randy (Patty) Martin, Tom (Shallen) Campbell, Cathy (Gene Norman) Campbell, and David Campbell, Jr.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Ernie (Donna) Campbell; sisters-in-law, Madea Schulz, Daisy Schulz, Jane (Earl) Dietzel and Audrey Campbell; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, David was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Campbell.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life for Friday, July 26, 2024 at Caro Assembly of God Church in Caro. There will be open-house style visiting from 11:00 a.m. until a small service at 12:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family, c/o Kristen Fisher-Ruiz, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
