David "Dave" James Anderson

David “Dave” James Anderson of Bay Port, age 77, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Covenant Health Care in Saginaw. Dave was born on September 14, 1948, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon, Michigan, to the late Russel and Maxine (Waigle) Anderson. Dave graduated from Laker High School in 1966, then attended Central Michigan University where he received a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in accounting. He was united in marriage with Reneé Henne on August 16, 1969, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pigeon. She survives him.

Dave started his career at Karl Leppien and Company in Caro, then transferred to their Pigeon office. He became controller at Schuerer Hospital and when his father retired from State Farm, Dave took the opportunity to become a State Farm agent, continuing his service to his Pigeon community. During his lifetime, he had many other businesses and taught business classes at Delta College. Additionally, Dave served as a board member for Bay Port State Bank Board of Directors for many years, as well as on the finance board at Pigeon First United Methodist Church where he was a devout member. As an adult he enjoyed fast-pitch softball, baseball, golf, and men’s league basketball, which he particularly loved participating in. His greatest love was his family, and he also enjoyed time at the casino. Dave was an advocate for youth basketball, helping start and run programs in Huron County, and he and Reneé were involved with athletic boosters for over twenty years.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Reneé Anderson. The couple was blessed to welcome three children into their lives, Branden (Jeni) Anderson, Heather McCleary, and Scott (Julie) Anderson, who further blessed them with grandchildren, Andrew (Linda) McCleary, Isabel McCleary, Nicholas McCleary, Lia Anderson, Audrey Anderson, Levi Cryderman, and Joe Cryderman; as well as an expected great grandson. Dave is also survived by sister, Sally (Mike Deeb) Dittman; brothers, Gary (Dena) Anderson and Dan (Marsha) Anderson; loving mother-in-law, Audrey Henne; and sister-in-law, Christine (Doug) Krohn; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
