David Devine

David Devine, age 62 years, of Caro, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at St. Marys of Michigan in Saginaw. He was born on April 5, 1946 in Detroit to the late Thomas Devine and Helen (Parker) Cone. David moved with his family to the Thumb as a child, living first in Huron County before coming to Caro. He was a Caro High School graduate and a Vietnam veteran, having served on the boats with the U.S. Navy. Upon his return, he worked at General Cable for approximately twenty years until the plant closed. David was a member of the Community of Christ Church and Theron W. Atwood Sr. American Legion Post #7. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and trips to the Casino. He is survived by his siblings, Thomas (Dorothy) Devine of Caro, Cecelia (David) Bender of Caro, Charles (Linda) Devine of Gladwin and Janice (Robert) Woodward of Cass City; his nieces and nephews, Tom, Deb, Lisa, Mark, Mary Helen, Karen, David, Kathleen, Charlie, Rusty, Ronny and Bobby; as well as several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Paul Woodward, and a niece, Kenna Peet. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Harley Dorman and Elder Jerry Bernhardt officiating. Military honors will follow under the auspices of the Theron W. Atwood Sr. American Legion Post #7 and the U.S. Navy. Burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Friday, November 14, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. and until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Kenna Lynne Peet Memorial Scholarship Fund (Tuscola County Schools)
