David John Ehlers, age 63, of Caro, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2010. He was born on March 24, 1947 in Flint to the late John and Wanda (Colley) Ehlers. Stretch graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1965. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Viet Nam era. Dave returned to his employment with General Motors in Flint where he remained for thirty years. In February of 1973, he married the former Patricia Hoy in Flint. The Ehlers moved to Caro in 1990, and after his retirement from General Motors, he worked for ten years as a custodian at Caro Community Schools. He was a member of Theron W. Atwood, Sr. American Legion Post #7 in Caro. Stretch enjoyed golf and Sunday outings with his wife, along with playing the lottery. Dave is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia; one son, Sgt. 1st Class David Wenner, USA and his wife. Robin. of Riverside, California; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Anthony Spencer of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, and Kaitlyn Wenner of Moberly, Missouri; one sister, Susan Ripper of Tampa, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Phillip Ripper. In honoring Stretchs having his way, cremation has taken place and a private family observance of his life will be held at a later date.
