David Allen McComb of Caro, age 42, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2025. He was born July 9, 1983, in Cass City to Douglas and Joanne (Lawrie) McComb. From a young age, it was clear Dave was sharp and creative. He was a true jack of all trades, skilled in anything he put his hands to. Whether fixing something around the house, building from scratch, or sketching detailed artwork, Dave had a natural talent for making things better.
He found peace in the outdoors and loved fishing, kayaking, hunting, and staying active. Nature grounded him, and in recent years, so did his journey of recovery. Dave had overcome battles with alcohol and drug addiction and was proudly sober for just over a year.
Dave was as complicated as he was kind. He was funny, loving, generous, and quick-witted. He could also be stubborn, pigheaded, and, at times, the dumbest smart person you ever met but that’s what made him unforgettable. His personality was larger than life, and he had a way of leaving an impression wherever he went. Dave was always the first one to show up when someone needed help. He deeply loved his nieces and nephews and had a special bond with them. Dave will be missed more than words can say.
Dave leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Douglas and Joanne McComb; children, Emma, Dylan, Rozlyn, and Dakotah; sister, Heidi Wilson; brother, Jason (Beverly) McComb; nieces and nephews, Brooklynn & James Wilson, Xandar McComb, Amelia Herzog, and Kyra McComb; several aunts and uncles; cousins; countless friends; and Linda Kaye. Dave was preceded in death by his grandparents and several friends.
Arrangements are still being finalized and will be announced as they become available. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family, c/o Joanne McComb, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
