David A. Rickel

David A. Rickel, age 58, of Port Austin and Mt Clemens died Friday afternoon, March 14, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe after a long fight with health problems.

He was born November 15, 1955, in Detroit to the late Bruce and Annie (Miller) Rickel. David was a 1973 graduate of New Haven High School.

On November 16, 1978, he was united in marriage to Linda L. Landry in Macomb, they made their home and raised their family in Mt Clemens.

Shortly after high school David took an interest in trucking. He drove for Hemme Transport and Arrow Metals of Detroit before starting his own company, Rickel Transport, Detroit in 1993. Dave operated this business until 2006 when he had to retire for health reasons.

His interest and hobbies include, bowling car racing, NASCAR, and car shows where he was proud to show off his 1970 Chevelle.

Surviving are his wife, Linda; two children, Royce Landry of Mt Clemens and Monique Rickel of Harrison Twp.; two grandchildren, Angelia and Royce Landry; two brothers, Howard and his wife, Denise Rickel of Chesterfield and Remi Dona of Washington Twp.; his sister, Peggy Dona of Washington Twp. and his step father, John “Bill” Dona of Utica.

There will be no visitation or services at this time and memorial service is being planned at a later date. Memorial gifts may be directed to his family.
