Dawn Marie Holcomb

Dawn Marie (Simerson) Holcomb, age 65, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 10, 2023. She was born June 19, 1958 in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Galen Simerson and Marjorie (Buckey) Simerson. In 1974, Dawn married Clare Wazny and the couple had a daughter, Tanya. Dawn was well known for her rustic Santa dolls that were sold worldwide, but her greatest passion was rescuing and fostering cats. She was involved in the local animal rescue circles for years. Dawn was engaged to John Murieko, who preceded her in death.

Dawn is survived by her siblings, Gary (Mary) Church, Galen (Mary) Simerson, and Marlen (Carson) Lonsway; her late fiancé, John Murieko’s daughters and grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends – both near and afar. In addition to her parents and fiancé, Dawn was preceded in death by a brother, Randall (Ginny) Church.

In keeping with Dawn’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to a local animal rescue organization.
