Dean A. Tomlinson of Caro, age 67, was embraced by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 18, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. Dean was born December 7, 1957, in Caro, the son of Joan (Jayne) Tomlinson and the late Donald “Tubby” Tomlinson. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1975 and attended Michigan State University. He was united in marriage with Brenda Teeter on November 12, 1994 in Clare, and was able to celebrate his 30th wedding anniversary just last year. Dean served the people of Caro in various careers, as a banker, commercial loan officer, appraiser, and as a salesperson. He gave generously of his time to his beloved Colwood Church in Caro, and to the community as a member of the Caro Lions Club, and as member and past president of both the Caro Kiwanis Club and the Caro Community School Board. In his younger years, Dean co-founded the “Caro Mafia”, played softball, and coached Caro Tigers football. More recently, he could be found on the golf course, volunteering for Colwood Church on the finance team, teaching Sunday school, or with the percussion section of the worship team where he loved to play the bongos and congas. Dean centered his life around God, his family and friends, church, and community. Those that knew him will miss his leadership, generosity, infectious laugh, and gentleness.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Tomlinson of Caro; two children and their spouses, Jenn & Todd Brick of Midland, Bobby & Megan Tomlinson of Midland; three grandchildren, Haden Brick, Ellie Tomlinson, and Alexa Tomlinson. In addition to his father, Dean was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Tomlinson in 2019.
