Delbert James Hyzer passed away Friday evening of extensive complications COPD and pneumonia at the age of 63.
He is survived by his older brother, Larry (Charlene) Hyzer of Allen Park, youngest brother, Mark (Diane) Hyzer of Dearborn Heights, and sole surviving sister, Donna (Joe) Zagorski of Bloomington, Indiana. Survived also by several nieces and nephews ranging from New York to Seattle who all loved and appreciated their Uncle Del.
Two sisters, Margaret Silcock and Norma Hyzer, pre-deceased him.
Before returning to “Downtown Pinnebog” in his retirement years, Del was a career man in the Navy, giving 25 years of service to his country. His career took him on the oceans all around the world. Although he had seen many exotic places in his travels, home was still at his Pinnebog roots. Part of his retirement included active involvement in the Kinde Fire Department, and Meade Township Supervisor. He was passionate about family and friends, enjoyed a good story, and had an engaging laugh that quite simply drew one to be in his company. He was a child of depression-era parents, Harry and Helen (McArdle) Hyzer, and inherited a work ethic, integrity to principle, and personal commitment to the value of his given word.
The family has arranged for a private memorial and appreciate the support and encouragement of all his friends through the course of his extended illness
