Della Gettel

Della Gettel, age 94, of Sebewaing, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2016, at Scheurer Long Term Care Facility in Pigeon.

Della was born May 12, 1922, in Sebewaing Township, to Henry and Elizabeth (Schweitzer) Gaeth. She married Floyd Gettel on January 10, 1942, at New Salem Lutheran Church. Floyd died on March 3, 1984.

Della was employed at Best Tackle Manufacturing Company for 23 years. She was a member of New Salem Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Sebewaing American Legion Auxiliary Post #293, Sebewaing VFW Auxiliary Post # 4115, Sebewaing Ladies Craft Club, Unionville-Sebewaing Senior Citizens Club, and past member of the Sebewaing Senior Bowling League. She was an avid Tigers Baseball fan and loved visits with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Della is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Erwin) Loeffler of Sebewaing; son, Dale (Jan) Gettel of Essexville; grandsons: Chad (Lynda) Loeffler, Ryan Loeffler and Jeffrey Loeffler all of Sebewaing, and David (Cristi) Gettel of Bay City; great grandchildren: Mya and Cooper Loeffler of Sebewaing.

Della is preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers: George, Herman, Albert and Norman Gaeth; two sisters: Martha Schairer and Sally Fedorko.

Visitation will be Monday, November 21, 2016, at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing, from 3-8pm.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.

Burial at New Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing.

Memorial donations may be given to New Salem Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.
