Delmar "Del" Nichols, Sr.

Delmar "Del" Nichols, Sr. of Caro, age 77, went home to God on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Del was born April 14, 1943 in Wayne, the son of the late Delmar F. and Marie (Petrie) Nichols. Del was united in marriage with the former Jean Rivest on May 16, 1964 in Wayne. He was the owner of Carry Manufacturing, Inc. Del was a private pilot: flying airplanes and helicopters and traveled extensively through the continental United States in motorhomes. He was a salesman through and through and enjoyed talking to people. Del was fascinated with NASA and SpaceX and enjoyed riding motorcycles. Del was a true American, entrepreneur, inventor, and patriarch of the family. Del is survived by his wife and true team partner, Jean Nichols; five children, Jean Bunker, Delmar Nichols, Jr., John (Cris) Nichols, James (Carrie) Nichols and Penny Day; fifteen grandchildren, Leroy (Alyssa) Bunker III, Jake (Melissa) Nichols, Austin, Nichols, Steven Nichols, Sam Nichols, Liz Day, Molly Nichols, Colton Nichols, Hayden Nichols, Nathan Nichols, Tyler Day, Collin Nichols, Laikyn Nichols, Sarah Nichols, Mylee Wolthuis; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Bunker; and mother-in-law, Geraldine "Jerry" Rivest. In addition to his parents, Del was preceded in death by one brother, John "Sonny" Nichols; and his father-in-law, Eugene Rivest. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Christopher Coman officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life planned when COVID restrictions are lifted. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery.
