Delores "Dee" Hawley

Delores "Dee" Hawley of Fairgrove, age 61, entered the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, August 24, 2020. She was known by many names, Dee to friends, Dolly to family, the Scrubbie Lady to the many that coveted her dish scrubbers, but was mostly known as a woman that loved others limitlessly. Dee was born September 9, 1958 in Pontiac, the daughter of Theresa (Machones) Travnikar and the late Joseph Travnikar. She was raised in Pontiac where she graduated from Pontiac Catholic High School. Following her graduation, she attended Oakland Community College. Dee managed several restaurants before taking a management position at Kmart in Lapeer for approximately ten years. She moved to Fairgrove in 1989 and served as a cashier manager at Farmer Jack until the store's closing. She was united in marriage with Arnold Hawley August 18, 1989, and he survives. Dee centered her life around her commitment to Jesus and family. Food and crafts were her love language and unfortunately her pecan and lemon pie may never be recreated. Perhaps her most cherished nickname was Mama Dee which she was affectionately given by her many foster children that she helped through the years. This later inspired the creation of Mama Dee's Country Crafts with Dee becoming known on the crafting circuit all over the thumb and Florida. She was also known for her towels and crocheted blankets that are cherished by family and friends that she gifted them to. Her sense of peace about the world may be best summarized by Philippians 4:6, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything." Delores is survived by her loving husband, Arnold Hawley of Fairgrove; four children, Heidi & Derrick Meyer of Barryton, Tom Hayes of Reese, Theresa Hawley of Grand Rapids, Brent Hawley of Fairgrove; four grandchildren, Kailyn Garchow, Bianca Meyer, Ruby Meyer, Alexander Joseph; her mother, Theresa Travnikar of North Branch; three siblings and their spouses, Joseph & Sharon Travnikar of Shelby Township, Albert & Charlene Travnikar of Auburn Hills, Edward & Susan Travnikar of Oxford; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, Dee was preceded in death by two infant sisters, Theresa and Mary Jo. In keeping with Dee's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
