Delos Howard Ross, 79, a lifelong Caseville resident, died Friday, January 6, 2012 at Brian’s House in Bay City.
Delos was born April 21, 1932 at the family farm on State Park Road in Lake Twp to the late John and Lydia (Sweet) Ross. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1950 and then joined the US Air Force, serving in Korea. On April 24, 1954 he married Merrill Ann Masta in Royal Oak. She preceded him in death September 27, 1989.
Delos worked as a carpenter, retiring from Ross Carpentry after his wife died. He was a former member of the RLDS Church in Caseville. He enjoyed hunting with his dogs, fishing and reading.
He is survived by his four daughters: Mary Delone (Jesse) Avalos of Pigeon, Terrill (Keith) Machowicz of Elkton, Lisa (William “Eddie”) Karl of Caseville and Rana Karl of Gagetown; grandchildren Nanette, Candice, John, Andrew, Travis and Brenna; great-grandchildren Rayne, Zak and Lilly; sisters Erdene (Joseph) Saylor of Grand Blanc, Leota (Jack) Gillespie of Three Rivers, Wiletta (Lowell) Brown of Caseville and Cathey (Leroy) Eimers of Unionville; and brothers Paul (Carol) of Clio, Larry (Judy) of Fenton and Jay of Reading, Penn.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Everett Karl and sister Erlene Horton.
Private committal service will be at St. Roch Catholic Cemetery, Caseville, with military honors provided by the Caseville American Legion. Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville is handling the arrangements.
