Dennis Joseph Champagne, 68, of Limestone, Tennessee, formerly of Elkton, died Monday, July 9, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City.
Dennis was born March 27, 1950 in Bad Axe to the late Cletus and Dolores (Gabert) Champagne. He graduated from EPBP Laker High School in 1968. He retired as a supervisor from Tower Automotive in Elkton. He moved to Tennessee in 2017. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, “puttering” and being crew chief on his son’s racecar team.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary Rooker Champagne; children Carrie (Roger) Stanton of Elkton, Christine (Jurgen) Champagne of Bad Axe, Ricky (Nicole) Champagne of Sebewaing and Jeffrey (Kirstie) Champagne of Bad Axe; grandchildren Matthew, Michelle (Chris), Ryan, Ethan, Alexis, Ana, Elizabeth, and Lacie; great-grandchildren Presley and Owen; and siblings Cindy Gempel of Ohio, Patti Machowicz of Bay Port, James (Peggy) of Elkton, Gary (Lynn) of Elkton, Lynn (Dean) Mundy of Elkton, and Bernie (Kelley) of Elkton. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Renee.
Funeral services will be 7:00pm Thursday, July 12 th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm Thursday and continue until the service at 7:00pm. Memorials may be made to the family.
