Dennis Arthur Cross

Dennis Arthur Cross of Fostoria, age 70, passed away on the evening of Thursday, July 7, 2022 at his home. Dennis was born January 18, 1952 in Cass City, the son of the late Donald & Bertha (Esckilsen) Cross. Dennis graduated in 1970, the first graduating class of the new Kingston High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Germany. Dennis worked at Gaylord Schools for twenty-seven years in the maintenance department, went on to Treetop Ski Resort, was an over-the-road truck driver transporting liquid nitrogen, and owned his own painting business. He was united in marriage with Susan L. Davis on January 17, 2014. Dennis was a devoted husband and faithful member of Anchor Cove Church in Caro. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, horseback riding, worn out cards, and playing rummy and dice games. He loved to watch western movies and was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan. Above all, Dennis loved time spent with his family, especially his big sister, Jeannette. He never met a stranger and could always put a smile on your face with his jokes. Dennis will be missed for generations to come. Left to cherish Dennis' memory, is his loving wife of eight years, Sue; children, Candy Cross, Dennis "Bub" Cross, Kimberly Ann (Billy) LaValle, Melissa Jane Dickey, Ryan Martin, Ben Martin, and Collen Martin; step-children, Ross Smalling, Missy Miller (John Adamick), Sherry (Jesse) Coolbaugh, William Miller, Jr., and Kevin Miller; twenty-seven grandchildren; siblings, Jeannette Shaver, Donna Cross, Betty Hendricks, Diane Hahn, Larry Cross, and Joe Hahn; many nieces, nephews, friends, and his beloved dog, Roxy. In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Cross; and step-father, Simon Hahn. In keeping with Dennis' wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Anchor Cove Church in Caro with Pastor Dave Wilczynski officiating. Military honors will follow under the auspices the U.S. Army and Caro American Legion Post #7.
