Dennis Patrick Henne

Dennis P. Henne, 81, of Bay Port passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022 surrounded by family at home.

Dennis was born November 19, 1940 in Bay Port to the late Ralph and Clara (Baur) Henne. He graduated from Bay Port High School in 1958. He married Janet Damm on November 5, 1966 at the Bay Port United Methodist Church.

Dennis retired as Tool & Die Supervisor from Active Industries/Tower Automotive. He was a member of Bay Port United Methodist Church. Dennis had a lifelong passion for duck hunting and fishing in Wild Fowl Bay. He also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting. He became a private pilot and enjoyed traveling adventures in the airplane with his brother John. He also raced stockcars at the Owendale Speedway. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with family. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, brother, neighbor and friend. However, above all he was most proud of his grandchildren. Nothing made him smile wider than a conversation involving one of them.

Dennis is survived by his wife Janet; children Layne of Pigeon, Michele (Jeff) Lauth of Rochester Hills, Shelly (Chris) Wurst of Bay Port, Jenifer (Rob) Kubacki of Bad Axe and Tim Schafer of Bay Port; 10 grandchildren; and brother John (Mary) of Frankenmuth; and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Herman and daughter-in-law Kim Schafer.

Private funeral services will be at Bay Port United Methodist Church with burial in New Bay Port Cemetery. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
