Dennis Charles Putnam

Dennis Charles Putnam of Caro, age 66, passed away at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Saturday, August 6, 2016 following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Dennis was born July 6, 1950 in Caro, the son of Charles William Putnam and the late Kathleen Zelma (Metcalf) Putnam. He was a 1968 graduate of Caro High School and received an Associate Degree in Auto Mechanics from Ferris State University in Big Rapids. Dennis was employed with Michigan Sugar in Caro as an Agricultural Mechanic and Journeyman Electrician for forty-two years. He had a natural ability to build and repair almost anything, and much of his spare time was spent tinkering in his shop at home. Dennis also enjoyed watching NASCAR and traveling to Phoenix, Arizona. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter and her husband, Ashley & Ben Harber of Commerce Township; his father and his wife, Charles & Jean Putnam of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother and his wife, Gary & Natalie Putnam of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; one nephew, Kyle Putnam of Kansas City, Missouri; and one niece, Kallie Putnam of Lenexa, Kansas. Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Putnam. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Colwood Church in Caro with Rev. Dr. Jason Garwood officiating. Burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
