Dennis Craig Root

Dennis Craig Root, 61, of Bay Port, died April 10, 2011 at his home.

Dennis was born August 15, 1949 in Alma to the late Don and Catherine (Wonnacott) Root. He grew up in Ithaca and graduated from Ithaca High School in 1968 and then went on to graduate from Michigan State University.

In the 1970's he moved to Bay Port and eventually became a partner in the Bay Port Fish Company along with the Williams before retiring several years ago. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and model trains.

He is survived by his sister Shirley Whitman of Alma; sister-in-law Charlotte Root of Lake; nieces and nephews Nancy, Brian, Rodney, Susan, Kathleen, Mary Jo and Janet; ex-wife Tanya Root of Bay Port and her Children Joe, Chad, and Craig Owens.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas and Richard Root.

Private family services will take place at a later date.

Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville is handling the arrangements.
