Dennis William Sweet

Dennis William Sweet of Bay City, age 58, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center in Bay City, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born December 22, 1957 in Pontiac, the son of the late Elizabeth Lincoln and Dennis Sweet, Sr. He graduated from Unionville High School and, as a youth, was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. Dennis was the epitome of love, and had the gift of bonding people together. He was such a caring person who never met a stranger and had an incredible sense of humor. A life taken far too soon, the lives he touched were many and his impact, immense. The memories he helped create with both family and friends, along with the laughter, are the wonderful gifts that he leaves behind for all to reflect upon and cherish. He could bring a smile to someone's face instantly with his comedic charm, a funny story, a joke or one of his many famous pranks. Oh boy, he sure knew how to pull off an elaborate prank. His signature, devilish smirk was a sure indication that he was up to something, or he was overjoyed that someone had agreed to join him in his shenanigans. He was protective, devoted and fiercely loyal to those he loved. He will truly be missed. Dennis is survived by what he has always described as the greatest accomplishments of his life, his sons, Nathan Sweet of Belleville, and Staff Sergeant Jeremy Cleland, 7th Special Forces Group, Eglin AFB; brother, John Sweet of Bay City; sisters, Nikki (Rick) Beauchamp of Linwood, Stacy Sweet of Bay City, Laura (David) Ziolkowski of Bay City, Shannon Sweet of Bay City, Shauna Sweet of Bay City, KittyLyn (JoJo) Brandle of Saginaw, Elizabeth (Christopher) Brandt of Palmdale, California, Elexia McGowan of Louisville, Kentucky, Melissa (Andrew) Fribley of Brighton, Jennifer Warzel (Tim) of Buffalo, New York, Shiloh (Jerry) Fitzgibbon of Munising; special cousin, Robert Lincoln of Harrisville; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins whom he adored. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher; step-father, Clinton Flemington; two brothers, Richard and Joseph Flemington; and grandparents, Peter & Thelma Procunier, Roy & Azilda Sweet, Herbert & Alice Flemington.
