Dennis Vollmer age 51, of Owendale, owner of Vollmer Beverage Co. (Faygo) died unexpectedly Monday afternoon while on his usual route in Bad Axe.
He was born February 20, 1958, in Pigeon to the late Arthur and Vernita (Heck) Vollmer.
After graduating from Laker High School in 1976, Dennis worked at Michigan Sugar, Sebewaing for several years and also worked with the family business, Vollmer Beverage Company.
On October 8, 1983, he was united in marriage to Toni L. Smith at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon.
In 1984, he took over the operation of beverage business from his father.
Dennis enjoyed outdoor activities with his family including 4 wheeling, dirt bikes, snowmobiling and deer hunting. He also loved playing pool, winning first place in his league this year. Dennis was a very friendly and pleasant man, he enjoyed visiting with his customers, their employees and anyone nearby.
Surviving are his wife, Toni; three children, Janel of Cass City, Jason of Pigeon and Kyle of Owendale; his sister, Connie (Mike) Geath of Bay Port and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 14, at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Visitation is from 2 to 9 PM Wednesday and after 10 AM Thursday. Memorials gifts may be given to the family.
