Derek C. Downs

Derek C. Downs, age 82, of Sebewaing, formerly of Lake Orion, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, September 11, 2023.

Derek was born in Lapeer on December 7, 1940, to the late Robert Carlin Downs and Bertha (Van Eldik) Downs. He is a graduate of Lapeer High School and attended many trade schools and colleges over the years. He retired from Masco Tech as the Vice President in Oxford, MI. He enjoyed being a volunteer firefighter, woodworking, remodeling, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and spending time at the Winiecki Camp with his lifelong friends. Derek also enjoyed airboats and was a member of the Michigan Airboat Association. He will be remembered as the unofficial major of Shook Island.

Derek is survived by his daughter, Leigh Ann Downs; his unofficial adopted son, Kurt Corradi and adopted grandson, Jackson Corradi; and loving friends.

Derek has chosen cremation to take place.
